New Books and Day Calendar

This week is a bit more on the busy side, well not so much busy but hubby is having to work later so I have to pick my son up from work.  Yesterday we got to see tater bug (well hubby had more time with her as I had to go shopping to get dad some flannel shirts and had my daughter go along), today I had the car so I went up to see the manager my dad knows well at McDonalds, then ran to Target to get dad some Bengay, vitamins for hubby and then went to get some Punchki’s as they are only made one day a year and on “Fat Tuesday”  (this was our first time ever having one) and then picked up my son and headed home.  So it has been a bit more busy so perhaps that is correct.

Today after picking up my son and headed home a box was waiting for me. My new books and Day Calendar from Intouch arrived:

The box was pretty heavy for books :)   Well that is what my son said anyway.  I always wanted a day calendar for my desk!  I watch Dr. Stanley and sometimes the passages he reads is worded a little different (New American Standard) than the Bible I was using because its a different translation (King James).  I have a journal I use when I take little notes (yes I take notes) and now while reading a verse while he is, I can read along and it will be the same.

The Handbook for Christian Living is going to be a great reference guide.  I missed the 2012 wall calendar this year.  Last year I got one for my mother in law and myself, the pictures were from actual photos that Dr. Stanley took!  They were so beautiful!   With all that has been going on with dad I didn’t get to order in time.  I even forgot to get my yearly Betty Crocker calendar for the kitchen.  I have looked around in local stores, even at Half Price Books, but could not find a recipe themed calendar.  This is my first year in a long time without one!

Dad, well its been a rough week.  He is pretty negative and wow tonight the language that came out of his mouth over the gal who gets the mail ready for him to deliver was not in order.  I suggested to him maybe take it and sit down before he starts to deliver it.  Yesterday he complained because no mail to deliver.  I been trying to change the topic a little, ya know being positive but he so far this week not pleasant!  With hubby working some over time, I don’t feel right him going up to the nursing facility, I know he needs to relax and rest so I am going to go during the day Thursday if I have the car instead of in the evening.  My daughter may go with me.

Give Every Day a Chance!

This is a great one to share!  I wish I could print all these out and save them but sharing them here is just as good!  This is an email devotional I received from Max Lucado:

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:20

A friend shared with me the fate of a hoarding grandmother.  She refused to part with anything.

She couldn’t rest because junk covered her bed.  She lost treasures because they were obscured by mountains of trash. Jewelry, photographs, favorite books—all were hidden.

No rest.  No treasures.

Squirrel away your hurts and expect the same.  Or clean your house and give the day a fresh chance!

“But, Max” you say, “the hurt is so deep.”

I know, they took so much.

But why let them keep taking from you?  Haven’t they stolen enough?

“But Max, I’ve been so angry for so long.”

Forgiveness won’t come overnight.  But you can take the baby steps in the direction of grace.  Forgive in phases.

Quit cussing the perpetrator’s name.  Start praying for him; understand her.

Give the grace you’ve been given!  Make it a day changer!

My dad crowned as king!

My dad he is seen with a student holding his hands to dance, then crowned king!  I am crying.  What a moment to treasure!  It just the one clip, the others are just other clips of videos!

He was crowned King!

This evening when I called my dad to see how the rest of his day went, (I had called him this morning) he was just so excited to tell me about his day.  He got a card in the mail that he said was the start of a good day (thank you Lara), and then [...]
